The Line Up:

  • #1: Woodford Reserve (United States/KY) – Woodford Reserve Master’s Collection Ex-Brandy Cask Finished Bourbon Whiskey [45.2%]

[ Master’s Collection Limited Edition Brandy Cask Finish ]

‘The Woodford Reserve Master’s collection Brandy Cask Finish is the latest and 11th release in the series. As the first whiskey to be finished in an American brandy cask, this new expression is yet another product of Woodford Reserve’s continued appreciation and commitment to innovation and craftsmanship.’

‘Brandy, a spirit distilled from wine or fruit, is often aged in oak barrels. These may be used a number of times because Brandy does not have the new, charred barrel requirement that our Kentucky Bourbon does. Finishing fully matured Woodford Reserve in these barrels does not add any new flavours to the whiskey, but instead accentuates Woodford Reserve’s rich dried fruit and nut characteristics that come from our grain recipe and long fermentation process.’

Cask Type: American Virgin Oak Barrel

Cask Finish: French Oak Ex-Brandy Barrel

  • #2: Glenglassaugh Distillery (Highlands/Scotland) – Glenglassaugh Wood Finish: Limited  Release Pedro Ximenez Cask Finished Single Malt Whisky [46.0%]

[ Limited Release Pedro Ximenez Cask Finish ]

‘The luscious sweetness of our full-bodied spirit is intensified in Pedro Ximenez sherry wood finish. Known as the ‘King of sherries’, PX is a sweet, dessert sherry, made by the sun-dried PX grape, known for its unctuous raisiny character. During finishing, the PX cask imbues Glenglassaugh with sun-dried warmth, reminiscent of a richly baked fruit dessert, spiced by the sea. Bottled at 46% with natural colour and is non chill filtered.’

  • #3: Glenglassaugh Distillery (Highlands/Scotland) – Glenglassaugh Batch 3 Rare Cask #1277/1 1975 Sauternes Hogshead 41 Year Old Single Cask Single Malt Scotch Whisky [50.5%]

[ Batch 3 Rare Cask 1975 Sauternes Hogshead Single Cask Whisky ]
Distilled: June 1975 Bottled: November 2016

‘Since 1875, Glenglassaugh distillery has sat quietly on the edge of the picturesque Sandend Bay, breathing in the North Sea air which flows through its warehouses and invigorates its sweet Highland spirit with notes of the sea. Silent for a period of more than 20 years, the distillery was re-awakened in 2008 and its stills brought back to life. Unearthed from the coastal warehouses, a rare collection of vintage casks were discovered from before the distillery fell quiet.’

‘These forgotten whiskies can now be experienced as part of our Glenglassaugh rare cask series. Glenglassaugh rare single casks are a discovery to be made, each cask telling its own story. All casks are bottled without chill filtration, for natural character, with the pure colour drawn entirely from the wood of the cask.’

‘Glenglassaugh’s first batch of single casks includes eight fantastic single malts ranging from 28 to 45 years old. All are crisp, fresh, sweet Highland malts that hit the palate with the power of complex fruit bombs – from apples, bananas, pineapples, grapefruit, prunes and plums to lime, cantaloupe melon and caramelised orange.’

‘The second batch of Rare Cask Releases consist of eight exclusive single malts ranging from 36 to 42 Years Old. Rich, elegant Highland malts that hit the palate with complex fruit bombs.’

‘The latest release in our rare cask series, Batch 3, features whiskies that are no younger than 30 years old, and provides a unique glance into the history of the distillery and the heart of Glenglassaugh. These elegant old whiskies offer a lush, ripe Highland single malt Scotch whisky experience, evoking notes of tropical fruit and the sea, while each cask type offers a unique taste influence.’
