– Crystal is an Aroma Variety of Hop, half-sister of both Mt Hood and Liberty Hops, developed by the USDA Breeding Program in Corvallis, Oregon. Crystal is a relatively small yielding variety, developed with Disease and Downy Mildew resistance in mind. Floral Citrus, Peach, Mango, Fresh Fruits, Pine Needles and Woody flavours come through on the Palate, with some Herbal-Spice, Citrus Zest, Melons, and Grass-like qualities in the Aroma. Commonly used for Aroma properties in India Pale Ales, New World Ales, and Pale Ales in the United States, along with England and Australia. Crystal is also a suitable substitute for the Hallertau’ and Hersbruck’ Hop Varieties. Developed in Oregon, United States 1983, now Commercially grown Internationally.
