– Spalt is an Aroma Variety of Hop, also called “Spalter” and the Parent of Spalt Select’ which has better-growing qualities, higher Disease Resistance and a larger Yield. Spalt, is one of 4 Noble Hop Varieties, originating from the town of Spalt, in the Bavaria Region of Germany. With a low alpha acid content of 4.0%-5.0% and a 1:1 Alpha Beta Ratio, Spalt is suitable throughout the Boil and for Dry Hopping. Sharing characteristics of Tettnanger and Saaz, including Herbal-Spice, Wood, Grass, Honey, Peach and hints of Citrus. Spalt is a staple in German Lagers, Helles, Kolsch and Bock styles. Commercially grown in Germany, and more recently throughout the United States, Argentina and Europe.
