– Pacifica is an Aroma Variety of Hop, developed through the HortResearch, New Zealand Hop Breeding Programme. Pacifica was bred through open pollination of the Hallertauer Mittlefrüh Variety of Hop and commercially released in 1994. Pacifica shows strong characteristics of the Hallertau Variety with subtle hints of Citrus, Spice, and Floral Herb, however, Pacifica also displays Orange Zest, Lemon, Pear and Marmalade qualities. With a low Alpha Acid content of 5.2-6.5%, Pacifica brings Floral, Zesty, and Tart like characteristics to Lagers, New World Pilsners and more recently India Pale Ales. With a pleasant Aroma, displaying Citrus, Pine, Radish, and Clove, along with Herbaceous, Bold, and Spicy qualities, Pacifica is a complex and unique variety of Hop.
