– Helga, formally (Southern Hallertau) is an Aroma Variety of Hop, bred through Open Pollination of a female Hallertau variety in 1986. With a mild Alpha Acid content of 5-7% and Beta Acid coming in at a pleasant 5-7.5%, Helga displays smooth Floral, Tropical, Herbal and slightly Spicy characteristics, distinct to her European Heritage, Hallertauer Mittelfrüher. With a low Aroma, similar to German Noble Hop Varieties, Helga has quickly become a staple Lager and Pilsner Hop accross the Australian Craft Brewing Scene. Helga also displays slight Tropical, Mango, Grapefruit and Floral qualities, common among other Australian Varieties. Developed and Released by Hop Products Australia.
