Break Even XV: Peat & Greet – Round 3

Sunday, August 19th 2018, Hobart Tasmania

Join Hoposphere at the Worlds End Brewpub for Break Even XV, on Sunday the 19th of August.

Peat & Greet Round 3 will explore 9 heavily peated single malts from the likes of GlenDronach, Glenglassaugh, Springbank, Laphroaig and Tobermory Distilleries.

Peat & Greet Round 3 was meant to be our first blind tasting in months, but with this line-up, we just couldn’t keep it secret any longer!

We have also secured a $2000 30 Year Old bottle of Laphroaig Single Malt just for the occasion, distilled back in October of 1985 and bottled at 53.5%.

Light finger foods and a welcome drink will be provided on the night.

Tickets are limited to just 24 people, with RSVP essential to avoid missing out.

The Line Up:
  • #1: The GlenDronach Distillery (Highlands/Scotland) – The GlenDronach Peated Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky [46.0%]

‘In contrast to the traditional, non-peated character of the GlenDronach, this particular whisky has, unusually, been distilled using peated malted barley. The GlenDronach ‘Peated’ pays homage to the peat historically used to dry the malted barley in the traditional floor matlings during the early days of the distillery. The subtle peated notes in this intriguing expression complement the classic GlenDronach Highland character and the rich sherry notes drawn from the wood.’

  • #2: Glenglassaugh Distillery (Highlands/Scotland) – The Glenglassaugh Peated Virgin Oak Wood Finish Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky [46.0%]

‘The sweet earthiness of our coastal peated spirit is brought to life in Peated Virgin Oak Wood Finish. During finishing in American Virgin Oak casks, Glenglassaugh is shaped by intense notes of candy and fresh spice, as if a sweet shop by the beach, spiced by land and sea. Bottled at 46% with natural colour and is non chill filtered.’

  • #3: The GlenDronach Distillery (Highlands/Scotland) – The GlenDronach Peated Port Wood Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky [46.0%]

‘Inspired by the historical import of casked port into Scotland during the nineteenth century, the peated spirit has then undergone a final maturation in the finest port pipes, from the Douro Valley in Portugal. Our whisky maker has hand-selected and expertly combined these port pipes, to create a rare and surprising expression of The GlenDronach. The GlenDronach Peated Port Wood is bottled at 46% ABV, non chill filtered and natural colour.’
