– Our Favourite Part of Mitte: [ The Oak, Age, and Wine influence from the Barrique Barrels. We also held some of the Kavalan in the mouth for 10-15 seconds before having a sip of the Mitte. Together they created a Complex, Silky, and Memorable Boiler Maker. ]

King Car Distillery: Kavalan (Taiwan) – Solist Series: Single Cask Vinho Barrique Cask Strength Single Malt Whisky [58.6%]

‘Vinho is fully matured in used American oak wine barrels that have been toasted and recharred in a way that brings out fruity vanilla notes from the whisky and wood overlaid on a delicate background of complex fruitiness.
The casks have (deliberately) been used to mature both red and white wines which eventually will contribute the background complex fruitiness to Kavalan Solist Vinhos.
It is complex and multi dimensional background of pepper, spice, dates and other fruits, such as ripe melon and mango together with kiwi and a delicate blend of citrus fruits burst. “

‘Established in 2005, Kavalan is Taiwan’s first whisky maker and the nations only family-owned whisky distillery. Kavalan takes the old name of Yilan County where it is located in northeastern Taiwan. Boasting pure water and fresh air, this part of the subtropical island provides the ideal environment for the production of whisky.

Kavalan Distillery is an entrepreneur’s dream come true. Mr. Tien-Tsai Lee, the founder of King Car conglomerate had dreamed of producing a Taiwanese whisky yet it was not until 2002, when Taiwan joined the WTO, that his goal could be achieved. The distillery brings a professional whisky R&D team together with a world-class master blender, Ian Chang, and a specialist – Dr. Jim Swan. Together they implement the highly specialised distilling and blending skills that King Car Group has cultivated for more than 30 years through beverage manufacturing experience and knowledge.

The fusion of world-class expertise and the artistry of the blender is to ensure that the silky smoothness and distinctive flavours of Kavalan single malt whisky can be appreciated globally.
